TeleToyland Sandbox
The TeleToyland Sandbox lets you draw in a shared sandbox. You can click multiple times on the image to create a path for the robot to follow. Let us know if it seems broken or if you have any suggestions! When you are an expert here, you can move up to the Advanced Control interface! (more instructions at the bottom of this page)
Check out our new Sandbox it's faster and has controllable LED lighting.
To make a simple path, just click a few times on the top image. When you click on the "Go!" button, The robot will move to the first point with the stylus up, then put the stylus down and move to each subsequent point. You can clear out the points you have set with the "Reset" button.
For advanced control, you can also use the "up" and "down" buttons. The first image point will still be moved to with the stylus up, but after that, you can use the "up" and "down" buttons to add those commands to the queue.
The command queue shows all the commands that the robot is processing from all users. The commands in yellow are your commands.
By popular demand, we have added a Wipeout command. Someday, we may build a new one with a vibrating bed or something as suggested, but for now we will enable a wipeout button after 30 minutes of inactivity on the site. It will draw a series of lines to mostly cover up any previous drawings. Enjoy! (January 13, 2010)
We're collecting a gallery of your favorite drawings! You can save the picture (use your browser right click -> Save Picture) and email it to carl@teletoyland.com for inclusion in the gallery. Please tell us your name (first name is fine) and city.
The TeleToyland Sandbox provided some inspiration to a team of college students at the University of Michigan. Their project is a mechanical version of the classic video game "Frogger". They constructed it with stepper motors instead of servos to get full rotation and easier calibration for linear movement. Great work, guys - a fun project!
